1)Number of Flight of staircase  must be in odd number(1,3,…)

2)Number of steps in even number(2,4,…)

3)Lean towards South.

4)Not to be placed before Front main door.

5)Not to be placed in the center(Branhastanam) of the house

6)Brahmsuthra(line joining middle points of Eas t& West) should not be passed through staircase 

7)Yamasuthra(Line joining middle point of North  & South should not be passed through staircase.

8)No vedadosham (middle point/line of doors/windows and middle point/line of staircase in a straight line)with any windows or doors

9)Staircase should be made in position to climb in cloack wise direction.
